XCM National champ again

Hi all,

Hope you had a great weekend!!

On Sunday 13th it was time to defend my title at the Luxembourgish national championship in MTB Marathon. It turned out to be a great day for me as I could take the victory for a second year in a row. After a personal disappointing World Championship four weeks ago, I have been really focussed and motivated to get the engine back on track and running as usual. I have to admit that it has cost me a lot of energy to still be at this level so late in the year.

The race consisted in 75 KM but only 1300 meters of climbing on mostly single trails. Straight from the beginning I was setting the pace and could control the speed more or less like I wanted. With almost 27 km/h you can imagine how fast this track is, similar to a road race. I really felt comfortable the whole day and had the power to take a nice victory on a sunny day where nobody could follow my wheel.

Such a cool way to end a long season, and I am super happy and proud to have performed on a high level throughout the whole year.

After nearly 10 months of nonstop racing it is now time to put in a decent break to recharge batteries for next year’s big goals. That doesn’t mean that I will just be “laid back” doing nothing in my off season. I am already working on new big goals and projects for 2020, and I believe I really soon have some great news to tell you all. Right now this means 2-3 weeks off the bike and then I will once again slowly start rebuild my shape towards next year.
